Bayer is one of the Top 100 Global Innovators

For the fourth year in a row, Bayer has has again been named a "Derwent Top 100 Global Innovator” by Clarivate Analytics.

Kemal Malik (Board Member for Innovation) and Joerg Thomaier (Head of Intellectual Property Bayer Group) accept the award.

Clarivate Analytics identifies the world’s most innovative organizations who successfully develop valuable patented inventions that also have strong commercialization potential based on originality, market reach, and opportunities for spin-off inventions.

Clarivate Analytics’ assessment methodology is based on four principal criteria: overall patent volume, patent application-to-grant success rate, global reach of the portfolio and patent influence as evidenced by citations. Bayer filed a total of 2607 inventions between 2013 and 2017, 1128 of which were granted patents. The extent to which these patents are protected on the world market by several major patent authorities was also assessed: Bayer performed very well in the "globalization" category because several authorities granted more than a third of the patents simultaneously.

“I am pleased that Bayer has been honored for the fourth time as a Derwent Top 100 Global Innovator by Clarivate Analytics,” said Jörg Thomaier, Head of IP Bayer Group. “This is a much-valued recognition of our ability to create breakthrough innovations aimed to improve people’s lives.”

According to Clarivate Analytics, placement on the list has become a standard measure for innovation across the world and is recognized as a significant achievement for those who are named.
