Ian Washburn is a partner in the Los Angeles office of Irell & Manella LLP. He represents clients in matters including intellectual property disputes, complex business litigation, and patent post-grant proceedings involving pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, and the Biologics Price Competition and Innovation Act (BPCIA). He also advises companies regarding global intellectual property strategy, during patent license negotiations, and on technology development and commercialization.
He earned his J.D. from the UC Berkeley School of Law and his B.A. in Chinese language from Yale College, and he studied Chinese language at Tsinghua University in Beijing. He has taught various classes related to patent law and pharmaceutical licensing at the UC Berkeley School of Law and the UC Irvine School of Law.
