Paul Hines helps clients find effective solutions to their complex global business disputes. Paul has exten sive experience representing clients in international commercial under major institutional and ad hoc rules, as well as in cross-border litigation in U.S. courts and before U.S. regulators.


Paul has a proven track record of preparing and presenting persuasive evidence and argument before international tribunals and U.S. courts at all stages of the proceedings and is particularly experienced in handling disputes involving complex technical and scientific issues. Paul is also frequently asked to advise clients on how to plan for, and prevent, disputes before they emerge, as well as on issues of trade compliance.


While Paul has handled disputes arising from transactions and investments in a wide range of industries, he has a particular focus on the life sciences industry, where he has represented pharma/biopharma, medical device, and healthcare companies in international and domestic disputes. Prior to law school, Paul worked for 7 years for a large U.S. hospital and healthcare system, helping to oversee clinical trial and privacy regulatory compliance.


In addition to his disputes work, Paul has significant experience in helping clients investigate and resolve international regulatory issues, including economic sanctions and export controls (e.g. OFAC, EAR/BIS) and  data breach issues.


Paul is a leader in the community of California international legal practitioners who regularly speaks on international disputes issues and is an active member of California Arbitration and the ICC's California Sub committee.
