Dr. Ulrich Storz obtained his PhD in Neurobiology from the University of M ü nster in 2002.
Subsequently, he received training as a German patent lawyer. In 2006, he became the agent of the European Patent Office.
Dr. Storz's main areas of expertise are patent application and patent
execution and implementation, as well as free implementation search
(FTO) analysis and preparation of expert opinions. He also provides
consultation on patent strategy issues, particularly in the fields of
life sciences (biotechnology, biophysics, biochemistry, and
microbiology), especially in the area of therapeutic antibodies.
Dr. Ulrich Storz frequently participates in major antibody opposition
proceedings at the European Patent Office. He also has extensive
experience in gene editing technologies (including CRISPR, TALEN, and
ZFN), as well as working in the fields of CAR-T cells, stem cell
technology, plant biotechnology, and enzymes.
In addition, in recent years he has provided professional support for a
large number of due diligence projects in the pharmaceutical/life
sciences field, involving amounts ranging from 500000 euros to 100
million euros.
Dr. Storz organizes the "Rhein Biopharmaceutical Forum" annually and
regularly publishes articles on therapeutic antibody patent issues in
the mAbs journal. And he was named one of the most famous biotechnology
patent lawyers in Germany by Juve Law magazine, and his name often
appears in cases related to therapeutic antibodies at the European
Patent Office“
